Day 1 From Malta. Coach transfer to Mellieha and check into the SOLANA Hotel & Spa for 7 nights. Day 2 Morning introduction to this beautiful resort with the largest sandy beach in Malta. Visit the Parish Church, the Church of Our Ladys Grotto, and the Air Raid Shelter. Afternoon excursion to see : St Agathas Tower, Popeye Village, the Devils Farmhouse, and the Church of the Miracle of Mosta. Return to hotel for dinner & overnight. Day 3 In the Steps of St Paul. Starting with a visit to Mellieha Sanctuary with its famous painting by St Luke who was shipwrecked here with St Paul, drive to St Pauls Bay, visit the Church of the Bonfire where St Paul first reached land, and see St Pauls Island where the shipwreck took place. Continue to Valetta Afternoon visit St Johns Co-Cathedral home to Caravaggios masterpiece The Beheading of St John Visit the Hidden Gem St Pauls Shipwreck Church where 2 important Relics of the Saint are held. Return to hotel for dinner & overnight. Day 4 In the Steps of St Paul. This morning we visit St Pauls Grotto his first resting place on the island, and now part of the refurbished Wignacourt Museum. Visit Roman Domus, typical of the period when St Paul was in Malta and one of the richest archaeological finds in Malta. Afternoon visit to Mdina, built on a plateau in the centre of the island. See the old Baroque buildings, the magnificent Bastion Walls, and visit the Cathedral & museum. Return to hotel for dinner & overnight. Day 5 Day trip to Gozo. A short 25 minute ferry crossing takes us past the island of Comino and its Blue Lagoon, to the island of Gozo. Here we visit the Basilica of the Blessed Virgin of TaPinu, visit the Rotunda of St John the Baptist, and see the natural limestone arch of the Azure Window. Visit The Citadel, Victoria a Medieval City, & capital of Gozo, enjoy a breadthtaking view of the island from the Ramparts, and visit the 17th century Cathedral. Late afternoon return ferry to mainland Malta. Dinner & overnight at hotel. Day 6 Morning visit to the Hagar Qim and Mnajdra Megalithic Temple Complex. Continue to the Blue Grotto and enjoy a short boat journey through the caves. This boat trip is OPTIONAL (not included), as it may not operate if the tides dont permit. Afternoon visit to Marsaxlokk, walk along the promenade and market place of this picturesque, serene and charming fishing village with colourful fishing crafts. The open air market takes place every day. Return to hotel for dinner & overnight. Day 7 Day at leisure to enjoy the facilities of Mellieha, the beautiful sandy beach, the warm summer sunshine, and sample a local restaurant for dinner (not included). Day 8 Mid morning transfer to Malta airport.
