We will check in the four star Dal Moro Gallery Hotel where we will stay for the following two nights. Day 2 This morning we will celebrate the opening Mass of our pilgrimage in the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli. Afterwards we will see the chapel of the Porziuncola chapel of St. Francis first community, the chapel of the Transito where St. Francis died and the Rose Garden. We will transfer to the town of Assisi and have free time for lunch. In the afternoon we will have a walking tour of the medieval town of Assisi which will include a visit to the Basilica of St. Francis where we will have time for prayer at the tomb of St. Francis and the Basilica of St. Clare, founder of the Order of Poor Clares. We will have time at leisure for personal sightseeing before returning to our hotel for our evening meal. Day 3 This morning we will depart Assisi to Roccaporena, birthplace of St. Rita. This town preserves the history of St. Rita as a young girl, a bride, a mother and later as a widow. We will visit the house where St. Rita was born, the 13th century Church of San Montano where St. Rita was married and the Garden of the Miracle, which relates to the story of the last days of St. Ritas life. We will continue onto the town of Cascia where we will stay for one night in the four star Hotel Monte Meraviglia on a full board basis. In the afternoon we will visit the monastery where St. Rita lived for over forty years as an Augustinian nun. Afterwards we will visit the Basilica of St. Rita where we will celebrate Mass and have time for private prayer and reflection before returning to our hotel for dinner and overnight. Day 4 This morning we will depart Cascia and travel to Lanciano, site of the first Eucharistic Miracle of the Catholic Church. We will celebrate Mass and afterwards have time for private prayer and reflection. After free time for lunch we will continue onto San Giovanni Rotondo where we will stay in the Hotel Colonne for the following four nights. Day 5 Our pilgrimage in San Giovanni Rotondo will begin with Mass in the ancient Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie where Padre Pio celebrated Mass. Afterwards we will visit the English Office where we will hear about the incredible life of St. Pio and receive a blessing with the glove and crucifix of the saint. We will return to our hotel for lunch. In the afternoon we will have a guided tour of the sanctuary. We will visit the capuchin friary where Padre Pio lived and died and see the crucifix before which Padre Pio received the Stigmata. We will complete our tour with a visit to the crypt in the Church of St. Pio of Pietrelcina where we will have time for prayer before the mortal remains of the humble friar. We will return to our hotel for evening meal. Day 6 This morning we will travel to the town of Monte SantAngelo, home to the oldest shrine in Western Europe dedicated to the Archangel Michael. We will celebrate Mass at the sacred cave and afterwards have some time at leisure. On our return to San Giovanni Rotondo we will visit the cemetery where the parents of Padre Pio, Mary Pyle and our dear friends Fr. Alessio and Fr. Joseph are buried. We will return to our hotel for lunch. In the afternoon we will visit St. Matthews monastery where we will receive a blessing with the relic of St. Matthew and the holy oil. We will return to San Giovanni Rotondo and have the afternoon at leisure. Day 7 This morning we will celebrate Mass in the hospital, Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza and have a guided tour of what is considered Padre Pios greatest creation. We will participate in the Stations of the Cross before returning to our hotel for lunch. We will have the afternoon at leisure for private prayer and sightseeing. Day 8 This morning we will depart San Giovanni Rotondo and travel to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Incoronata. Tradition has it that, in April 1001, Our Lady appeared on an oak tree in the forest of Cervaro to the Count of Ariano Irpino and asked that a church be built on the site. We will have time for prayer and to receive a blessing with the holy oil. We will continue onto Piana Romana where we will celebrate Mass. We will visit the chapel dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi and see the tree beneath which Padre Pio received the invisible stigmata. Afterwards we will transfer to nearby Pietrelcina, birthplace of St. Pio and have a walking tour of the quaint town visiting the Forgione family home where Padre Pio was born and the parish church where he celebrated his first Mass. After free time for lunch we will transfer to Pompeii. We will visit the Basilica of the Virgin of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii, once visited by the young Francesco Forgione. We will venerate the painting of Our Lady of the Rosary and have time for private prayer. We will check into the four star Hotel Pompeii Resort where we will stay for one night on a half board basis.
