Day 1 Sunday - June 1st
Check in at your local airport for overnight transatlantic flight to Ireland.
Day 2 Monday - June 2nd
On arrival in to Shannon we meet our Marian Pilgrimages tour guide
before transferring to the Radisson Hotel in Clare where the group will
enjoy breakfast together. Afterwards we make our way to the mystical
Cliffs of Moher. The cliffs of Moher rise to 390 feet above the Atlantic
Ocean and allure their many visitors with their beauty. We will move
on to Galway, a city that has kept its medieval charm with its colorful
streets and authentic pubs. The coastal road from the Cliffs of Moher
travels along the blue Galway Bay, with a natural rocky landscape on
the other side. We will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Galway.
Day 3 Tuesday - June 3rd
After breakfast in the hotel we spend the morning in Galway city,
visiting the Cathedral, Spanish Arch, Eyre square and the salmon weir,
after lunch we continue our pilgrimage to Ballintubber to visit the 13th
century Cistercian Abbey where we will celebrate mass, visiting Cong
on the way, famous for the filming of the Quite Man movie , later in
the afternoon we will continue to Croagh Patrick, where Saint Patrick
fasted for 40 days. Here for those who wish, can climb as far as St.
Patricks statue. After our visit we will drive to the Knock house hotel
to check in for relaxation and dinner. 2 nights stay in Knock.
Day 4 Wednesday - June 4th
This morning, we will take a tour of one of the worlds leading
Marian shrines, situated in the plains of Mayo. The apparition is rich
in symbolism and is venerated internationally. After our visit we take
the short drive to Attymass, where we visit the prayer center of Father
Patrick Peyton, the rosary priest to celebrate mass. The late afternoon we
will spend some time in the beautiful town of Westport before returning
to the Knock house Hotel.
Day 5 Thursday - June 5th
This morning, we depart Knock for Dublin, on route we will be visiting
Clonmacnoise Abbey, which is Irelands most important monastic site,
overlooking the River Shannon. This site was founded by St. Ciaran in
the 6th century. We continue to the medieval city of Kilkenny for mass
in the Black Abbey. We will visit Kilkenny Castle, seat of the Butler
family, Earls and the Dukes of Ormond. Nearby visit Kilkenny Design
Workshops in the old stables of the castle. Time for lunch and shopping
before we are continuing to Dublin for 4 nights stay.
Day 6 Friday - June 6th
Today we will travel through the beautiful mountains of Wicklow, also
known as the Garden of Ireland, until we reach Glendalough. This
ancient monastic city, established in the 6th century by St. Kevin, is
in the heart of the valley of the two lakes. It was a very important
center of learning, as well as a pilgrimage destination. Here we take a
guided tour, in which you will see an Irish round tower, the ruins of St.
Peter and St. Pauls Cathedral, and the quaint St. Kevins Church which
is surrounded by an old cemetery. In the afternoon we will return to
Dublin for some free time and an early dinner before we attend the
opening of Venerable Matt Talbot Centenary weekend in Our Lady of
Lourdes Church in the city center returning after to our hotel.
Day 7 Saturday - June 7th
In the morning visit Trinity College, the oldest university in Ireland. It
was founded in 1592 by Elizabeth I. We will visit the ancient library at
Trinity College containing over 20,000 manuscripts, among which is
the famous illuminated Gospel manuscript: the Book of Kells. In the
afternoon the highlight of the centenary weekend is the main mass
in Saint Marys pro-Cathedral Concelebrated by Archbishop Dermot
Farrell and guests with a procession to the tomb of venerable Matt
Talbot in Our Lady of Lourdes Church returning to hotel for dinner.
Day 8 Sunday - June 8th
Morning free before transfer to Our Lady of Lourdes Church for a
series of talks and workshops plus a walking tour in the footsteps of
Venerable Matt Talbot before closing Mass. Return to hotel for dinner.
Day 9 Monday - June 9th
After breakfast we will depart to Dublin airport for return flight to the
USA.
